The NYBBGB is the top commissioner of new music for brass bands, and pieces we commissioned are played across the world. We hold our own library, which includes original work by our founding conductor, Dr Denis Wright, as well as all of our commissions.

Situation
The NYBBGB library of music consists of 800 sets of brass band music. The NYBBGB owns the whole collection which includes Denis Wright's Messiah and Cornet Concerto. We have also recently received a collection of brass chamber music from the renowned trumpeter Bob Jenner. We hold our own historical archive comprising programmes, photograph and other memorabilia. We recently had to move our library to new premises and wish to improve cataloguing, ensure condition is maintained and make available.
Solution
We will maintain our library and archive in secure accommodation of the right environmental conditions, undertake cataloguing, and seek advice and support from a professional librarian. We will work to make our library and archive available, for our members, alumni and the public, and will seek to understand and interpret our organisation's history.
