Grove Adventure Playground is raising money this Christmas to provide a year’s worth of enrichment and wellbeing activities through art to help the children and young people at the Grove recover their natural sense of joy after 18 months of Covid-19 restrictions. Artists, poets, musicians, gardeners and chefs will be given residencies to help them connect with the children, build confidence and trust and provide the kind of activities that will widen horizons, break down barriers, and build on our children’s creativity. It will additionally enhance our service to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Situation
Loughborough Junction is one of the 20 percent most deprived areas in the UK. Data and our evidence shows many families live in extreme poverty. The neighbourhood suffers from high levels of crime with three young people lost to knife crime in the last three years. Most people live in overcrowded flats in the estates of social housing that surround the playground with no access to private green space. Parents and children do not feel safe playing in the streets or local parks.
Solution
Grove Adventure Playground provides a safe place for local children and young people to play; scramble over our play structures - some of the most adventurous in London - meet their friends and make new ones; improve their fitness; spend time outdoors; play sport and plan activities. This exciting arts programme will provide opportunities for our children and young people to explore their creativity and visit some of London’s cultural highlights.
