37,000 people sleeping rough during the pandemic were moved into emergency accommodation, but homelessness still exists. Today we are working harder than ever to give people a home; to find onward long-term accommodation and provide support to overcome the extra challenges COVID has brought about.

    Situation

Homelessness is about a need for warmth, safety and belonging - not just housing. Warmth: the move into emergency accommodation offered some people the step up they needed - for many it did not. Longer-term housing was not forthcoming, meaning some people will be back out in the cold. Safety: 1 in 3 homeless women have experienced domestic abuse, with an increase during lockdown. Belonging: there is an uncertain job market and lack of confidence, skills and experience to take the next step.

    Solution

We tackle immediate needs and root causes of homelessness, delivering critical support that thousands rely on. Warmth: we will continue expanding our housing to ensure people have a place to stay while we help them get back on their feet. Safety: we aim to expand our domestic abuse team, and roll out training to frontline staff to help deliver our life-changing support. Belonging: we will deliver 1-2-1 coaching and employability workshops to build confidence and skills to help access work.
