    Situation

ASIRT is a small charity working with people with precarious immigration status at risk of destitution in the West Midlands. Many of the families we work with have a legal right to be in the UK but are unable to regularise their status because of the cost, and are therefore living in extreme poverty, unable to claim benefits, or even access healthcare. Children in these families are at risk of poor nutrition, developmental delay, and mental health problems.

    Solution

ASIRT works on the resolution of people's immigration status, through providing free legal advice and grant writing to secure immigration fees. At the same time we work to ensure that people are able to meet their basic needs through advocacy with the Local Authority, and our children's worker ensures that children are able to go to school, receive additional support where necessary and have some fun.
