This is a five-year programme of capital and revenue support to develop Shree National Primary School, a major community school in south Nepal that serves children from the untouchable community and ethnic minorities. We are building financial and environmental sustainability into the plan.

Situation
The current school serves a large community at Bhatighadi, an area where we are restoring a 32-hectare forest. Education is considered to be "basic" as it just goes up to Class 8. However, the school has a very low attendance as it is terribly under-resourced, the buildings are dilapidated and the teacher/student ratio is 1:100. Solution
We will refurbish school buildings and build new classrooms, so that after five years there will be 12 usable classrooms. We will employ additional teachers and provide teaching resources. This will include a new, fully furnished computer training centre. We will support the education of the poorest children, incentivising attendance with daily snacks. We will raise funds to ensure sustainability through introducing an organic fertiliser manufacture programme and mushroom cultivation.
