    Situation

Moorland blanket bogs are incredibly important landscapes, that are crucial in the fight against climate change as well providing multiple benefits to our society. However their position in the heart of the country surrounded by the industrial cities of Manchester and Sheffield has led to long term decline, due to pollution and erosion and a range of human induced factors. We need your help to fund vital research and restoration work to help combat the destruction of these special landscapes.

    Solution

Your donations will fund restoration and research work on the Peak District and South Pennine moors, helping to create healthy moorland blanket bogs, which are waterlogged areas, made of a thick layer of peat, covered with plants including sphagnum moss. Blanket bogs in good condition: - actively fight climate change by absorbing and storing carbon - reduce the risk of wildfires - reduce the risk of flooding - improve water quality - provide habitat for wildlife including many endangered birds
