Our welfare line receives 8000 calls annually from members of the public. Their concern enables our nationwide team of Field Officers to attend over 1500 potential welfare cases a year. This essential, confidential service means every call has the power to change a neglected animal's life forever.

    Situation

Currently 7000 horses are at risk in the UK through neglect, ignorance and cruelty. These sensitive, intelligent creatures should not have to suffer at the hands of their irresponsible owners. This number is expected to be even higher in 2020 as the lockdown measures ease and the public will be out and about and able to see horses and ponies in distress again, who have been invisible due to the Covid19 restrictions.

    Solution

Our 24 hour welfare line gives a direct contact point for concerned members of the public to immediately report concerns which could otherwise deteriorate, or not be known about, and provides a lifeline between horses and ponies in need, and our care. Our 16 highly experienced Field Officers attend and investigate potential welfare cases, working with the owners to improve conditions or where necessary to remove the animals to one of our 4 rescue and rehoming centres around the UK.
