We are seeking funds to resource and build capacity for our youth violence intervention programme called 'Another Way'. We do late night street work, run a safe-space until 2am and provide a range of advice and supporting services including mentoring and employment and training programmes.

    Situation

Serious youth violence in the form of knife and gun crime Gang related activities such as selling drugs, theft and grooming Conflict fuelled by postcode territory disputes Mental health issues, particularly those stemming from trauma Substance mis-use issues Poor education and lack of skills and experience Poor behaviour Poor housing Chaotic home lives General poverty Lack of strong adult mentors

    Solution

Our intervention is formed of a variety of ‘trauma informed’ activities that aim to get young people affected by crime and violence to discuss their thoughts and feelings, the impact it has on their lives and the lives of people they know and the wider issues that contribute to the problems. Alongside this we also offer therapeutic interventions within the Harrow Club as well as sign-posting and referrals and a mentoring programme for those young people ready to move their lives forward.
