SPONSOR A HOST VISIT. One weekend can mean so much! Volunteer hosts invite international students at UK universities to experience their way of life. This is such a good way to understand and appreciate one another. Every £30 helps make this opportunity available to one more student far from home.

Situation
Students from all over the world come to the UK, not just to gain degrees, but to immerse themselves in the language and culture of the country. In practice, they find themselves in an international bubble in the university, and it is very difficult to engage with British people in their own environment. Some students experience loneliness and homesickness, some even racial abuse, and many return to their own countries having learnt little to appreciate about British life.
Solution
HOST links international students at UK universities with volunteer hosts all over the UK, who invite them to spend 2 or 3 days over a weekend or - importantly - at Christmas, as guests in their home. Our volunteer regional organisers know every host and match students and hosts carefully. Students experience the hosts' way of life, participate in local events and are taken to places of interest. In exchange, they talk to their hosts about their own culture. Lasting friendships are often forged.
