    Situation

A lack of sanitation support for girls at rural schools means they miss school every month, falling behind their male counterparts. Worse performance at a primary school age means less girls can get into secondary school, drastically impacting their future life earnings.

    Solution

We will work with 16 rural schools - proving reusable pads, speaking to boys, girls, teachers about menstrual hygiene and puberty. We will also ensure a good school environment through provision of permanent handwashing facilities at 4 schools and three blocks of latrines for boys, girls and staff at 1 school. Our girls latrines will have an extra stance for changing, and a wall for privacy so that girls feel well supported at school.
