Funds are needed to provide veterinary supplies for street dogs in Nepal. These animals can be neutered, vaccinated and given treatment for injuries and disease so that they are accepted and cared for by local communities.HAT UK provides this relief through it's Nepali charity, H.A.R.T.

    Situation

Street dogs in Nepal reproduce once or twice a year. Litters of pups are born to mothers who are unable to look after them and many die from illness and malnutrition. Those that survive lead short lives as they are vulnerable to disease, predation, lack of nourishment and even culling. Local communities are wary of these dogs fearing for their own health.

    Solution

Acting through H.A.R.T, this charity will continue to neuter, vaccinate and treat the street dogs of Pokhara and it's surrounding area. This programme has been in existence for nearly ten years and the dog population is stable, healthy and generally well treated by the community. However unless the work continues the animals will start reproducing rapidly, lose vaccination protection and suffer without veterinary care.
