To provide support to individuals living in Unsupported Temporary Accommodation (UTA). Homeless people in UTA do not have access to a safe, secure or settled home. They suffer with deteriorating health & lose control of their life. We help people's experience of UTA be short, safe & healthy.

    Situation

People living in UTA suffer with deteriorating mental & physical health, become victims of crime, lose control of their life, drop off the bottom rung of the housing ladder or die prematurely. We've conducted research that reveals there are over 51,000 individuals in B&Bs (UTA) in England. This is in contrast to the government figures which recorded only 5,870. In Brighton and Hove there has been a 237% increase in the number of households accommodated in temporary accommodation since 2010.

    Solution

Our project across Brighton and Manchester provides support for those living in crisis via our outreach workers. Supporting individuals in UTA to enable them to access healthcare, move into safe, suitable accommodation and move away from homelessness. We do this through advice sessions, accompanying to appointments, learning and development opportunities and individually tailored support to improve their overall well-being.
