An estimated 5 billion people worldwide do not have access to affordable anaesthetic and surgical care, mainly in poor countries.This leads to over 17 million deaths every year. Anaesthesia is essential for surgery to treat many life-threatening conditions. Many millions of mothers and babies die each year due to complications during childbirth whose lives could be saved by Caesarean sections.
Solution
SAWW saves lives by providing suitable equipment and training to improve anaesthesia services for people in the most disadvantaged countries. We work closely with local hospitals and medical staff to ensure that we supply precisely what is needed.
