    Situation

8,855 people were seen rough sleeping in London in the year to 31 March 2019 of whom 2,512 were in Westminster. 80% of those rough sleeping had some degree of additional support need around mental health or substance misuse or both. We wish to help as many rough sleepers in Westminster as possible, providing comprehensive support to bring their homelessness to an end. This could include helping them to find work, or to return to and find support in their home area away from London.

    Solution

The Passage takes part in outreach service every day of the year contacting those in need living on the street. Where appropriate some are helped to return to and find help in their home area. For those with us for longer, our resource centre meets basic needs of a warm welcome, showers & toilet facilities, a laundry and clothing store, cooked meals, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Through health, education and employment, housing and advice services people move permanently from the street.
