Our work benefits children whose emotional difficulties mean they find it hard to form relationships and engage with learning. Looked After Children are the most vulnerable group of children in society. Their attainment in Maths and English GCSE is 18 percent compared to 59 percent of all other children. Emotional difficulties caused by Adverse Childhood Experiences reduce positive life-outcomes, increase mental health problems, substance abuse, violence, homelessness and exploitation.

Educational Psychotherapists will deliver a combination of individual therapy and group sessions using therapeutic story/art interventions, working closely with professionals from Virtual Schools, community and youth hubs, and with carers/parents. This evidence based intervention will increase participants’ sense of self-worth, help them become more focused and engaged with learning, decrease their risk of exclusion and improve their educational attainment and life outcomes.
