In Zambia thousands of children miss out on school, food and clothing every day. We can tackle this poverty by empowering mothers/carers with our GROW Savings Groups, this leads to better futures for all. Please help a mother start her journey towards freedom from poverty for her and her family.

    Situation

Women are struggling to look after their children, supporting more than their own - 6 in a household is common. Many women have little or no education, having left school at 12 to help at home and live precariously, vulnerable to money lenders as they try to make ends meet. Zambia has been ravaged by the legacy of HIV/AIDs. 50% live below the poverty line. High food prices and extreme poverty is harming the life chances of poor children and a third of under-fives suffers from malnutrition.

    Solution

We’ll establish GROW Groups for 500 children &160 mothers/carers. The budgeting, financial training, & safeguarding support they get will help families & keep their children safe. By saving a bit a week members pool their savings in a group loan fund, which they can borrow from, helping them to start a business, put food on the table, give their children the things they need, and combat the threat of poverty now, and in the future. GROW helps vulnerable women protect their children and assets.
