Childhood cancer is the biggest killer of children under 14 in the western world, yet it attracts a fraction of the attention and funds given to adult cancer. Children are not small adults. They need dedicated research and tailored treatments and drugs. Help us do more for children with cancer.

    Situation

About 1,900 children (up to the age of 15) in the UK are diagnosed with cancer each year. That's 12 children diagnosed with cancer every single day in the UK. Many children are often given the same treatments as adults— incredibly aggressive chemotherapies and radiotherapies—and in many cases children’s treatments have not changed for decades. We kickstart new research projects to change that. Research that is specific to children with cancer and will give them a better chance at life.

    Solution

We give grants of up to £70k to scientists and clinicians to research pioneering ideas to improve treatments for children with cancer. From less invasive tests and improved diagnosis to gentler treatments with fewer side effects, our focus is not only on finding cures for childhood cancer, but giving more children the chance of a brighter future.
