Having glasses, being able to see clearly is life changing. Having eye care means children can learn at school, and parents can work more easily to provide for their families. Because everyone deserves to see smiles this Christmas, we want to make eye care accessible overseas!

    Situation

In 2020, 1.1 billion people were living with untreated vision impairment, and this is expected to grow to 1.8 billion by 2050. It has been found that improved eye health services are associated with moving closer to achieving the targets of at least seven Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Without eye care and glasses parents struggle to earn enough to provide for their families, and children struggle to learn at school, as they cannot easily see their blackboard or textbooks.

    Solution

We provide eye tests and glasses to those who need them most. To do this we: - Support the development of Human Resources for Eye Health, by training eye health staff; - Strengthen essential eye health services, by setting up Vision Centres, supply chains and outreach work to provide services to remote communities; and, - Engage and mobilise communities, to increase awareness, knowledge, health seeking behaviour and demand for services.
