We reach out to the most isolated residents in Tower Hamlets and help them to connect. We bring joy and friendship to lonely older people, relief and practical tools for people suffering chronic pain and illness, and a safe, nurturing space for refugee women to touch safe ground.

    Situation

The older people we support face poverty, widowhood, disabilities, sensory impairments, and fear Covid. Those suffering chronic pain have limited mobility and energy, mental strain from pain, and fear the future, job loss and relationship breakdown. The refugee and migrant women we support were recently moved here, suffered trauma in their home countries and en route, some were trafficked, some raped. They face language barriers, acute loneliness, pain and chronic stress.

    Solution

Isolated older people will develop tools to sustain connection, including listening, sharing, boosting confidence and finding common ground. Those suffering chronic pain will receive effective tools to manage planning, pacing, being with pain, kindness, and staying in the moment. Women migrants and refugees who’ve lost everything receive tools that cannot be taken away. Gentle, trauma-informed yoga gives restful care, while simple English vocab promotes self-expression and agency.
