Children referred Dear Santa have suffered trauma from domestic or sexual abuse, neglect or the loss of a loved one through homicide. Many live in poverty in deprived areas. A present from Dear Santa can make a positive difference to what can be a difficult day for children and their families.

Situation
Most of the children we support have suffered sexual abuse, been exploited by online grooming or have witnessed domestic violence – serious crimes which have robbed them of their self-confidence, self-esteem and sense of security. Most live in deprived areas, with low-income families, where Christmas may not be a time for celebration and presents. With the right emotional and practical support package, we can halt this impact, helping them to rebuild their lives and thrive in the future.
Solution
Last year we gave 1,453 children a longed-for gift, helping them and their families to rebuild after experiencing serious crime. Through our tailored support packages, we ask children to choose a gift they would like to receive (with a maximum cost) and work with local organisation, funders and supporters to source these presents. With the help of our fantastic team of volunteers we wrap and post these to the children to arrive before Christmas day.
