We are asking for your help to Light Up Christmas by providing gift vouchers for 2,250 children under 5 living in poverty across London. The cost-of-living crisis is casting darkness over the lives of the families we support. We want to ease the pressure this Christmas and spread some joy among families by giving them the opportunity to choose a present for their child or food for the table, as well as raise money for our work in 2023 when we anticipate supporting more than 9,000 children.

    Situation

The cost-of-living crisis is robbing the children we support of the start in life they deserve. For families where the margins are narrow already, price rises for food and utilities mean that impossible decisions have to be taken about spending on essential items- choosing between heating, eating, washing, turning the lights on and buying nappies. As we approach the festive period, families feel the pressure even more – wanting to deliver a happy Christmas for their children and wanting to find joy and reasons to celebrate.

    Solution

We can ease the pressure on families by providing a £20 supermarket voucher per child we support in November & December. This will give parents the agency to purchase an item their child will love, or food for the table. In addition we are raising money for our work in 2023 when we anticipate supporting more than 9,000 children.
