Teach the Future is a Students Organising for Sustainability campaign which is currently working towards creating legislative change across the UK, at every level of governance. We will put our funds towards supporting our volunteers to lobby and research, as well as to further our communications.

    Situation

Currently, the education systems of the United Kingdom are failing to prepare young people for their future livelihoods through a lack of teaching surrounding the climate emergency and sustainability, with the limited topics on this being siloed into optional subjects, meaning that the skills required to mitigate the effects of global warming and to live in a green and just society are not being adequately taught. Students across the UK demand comprehensive climate curriculum

    Solution

Since 2019, the Teach the Future campaign has adopted a multifaceted approach to campaigning for increased climate education in schools - legislation and community organising. We aim to pressure our governments into incorporating such topics into the curriculum through the passing of legislation (written in collaboration with our student volunteers) which would require all schools to run sustainability through their lesson plans like a golden thread, whilst garnering the support of teachers.
