Barriers for disabled children exist. Challengers help to remove them through the power of play. We give disabled children and young people (aged 2 - 18) the opportunity to play, have fun, develop social skills and make friends in a safe & supportive environment.

    Situation

Disabled children and their families are often excluded from society, with play and leisure opportunities frequently inaccessible due to physical, social, financial and attitudinal barriers. Families with disabled children already face financial barriers (the cost to raise a disabled child can be three times more than a non-disabled child) but with the cost of the living crisis as well, families are being pushed even further.

    Solution

Challengers break down barriers to play. Play and Youth schemes provide disabled children with the opportunity to play, have fun and make new friends. Also giving much-needed respite to the parent, carers and siblings. We break down the financial barriers by ensuring the parental contribution is equivalent to a non-disabled children’s service and offer bursaries and concessions where needed. Our staff are highly trained and we offer the staff ratios suited to the child’s needs.
