    Situation

The north east region has the second highest rate of sexual violence reports in England and Wales, according to a 2021 report by Office of National Statistics. Our referrals increase year on year and we now deliver free specialist support to over 700 women and girls annually. Without support, individuals can develop mental health difficulties, low self esteem, self-harming behaviours and PTSD, negatively impacting their enjoyment of life but also their ability to work, parent and/or self care.

    Solution

We provide up to 20 weeks of free specialist counselling to all survivors of sexual violence that is accessible, confidential and proven effective. We currently manage a waiting list and would like to use the funding to decrease this so that survivors can access support when they need it.
