    Situation

The women we support have experienced physical, sexual and psychological abuse and many have mental health problems, including depression, anxiety and PTSD. Research has shown that 35% to 73% of abused women have mental health problems (3 times greater than the general population) COVID-19 has added another dimension to domestic abuse and violence. Demand for our services has increased with a higher number of women presenting with complex mental health problems.

    Solution

One-to-one sessions provide emotional & practical support. By providing a listening ear, women often feel validated for the first time. As they build trust, they begin to develop their confidence & get involved with activities within the service & the local community. Group sessions raise awareness of domestic abuse & help women build healthy & happy relationships with those around them. Women also have access to a specialist trauma-informed counselling service.
