    Situation

Youth unemployment and poverty is at an all time high, caused by COVID-19 and extreme drought. We’ve seen the devastating impact, families are making unbearable decisions to survive. Unemployment & poverty put young people at high risk of exploitation, abuse and violence, especially young girls, causing significant trauma and poor mental health. With few jobs available, self-employment can provide an opportunity for earning income, but most young people do not have the skills or confidence.

    Solution

Through our Seed of Hope programme, we provide free vocational training and business skills courses for vulnerably young people aged 14-25. Every student is supported with counselling, food, childcare or travel vouchers and we support them to find employment or set up a small business to generate income. We urgently need your help to support 900 vulnerable young people next year, enabling them to gain the skills and confidence needed to build a financially secure future, free from poverty.
