Working through the year with a group of women with substance use disorder, we will provide women centered support led by women. We will culminate in a weekend of healing and network building to support them in their journey to recovery.

    Situation

In 2023 the FiLiA Legacy project will work in Glasgow, from Nov 22 we will start contacting local Women’s organisation to find out what their needs are. Working with women with substance use disorder has already been highlighted as a need. Deprivation and low aspiration leads to limited choices for women and negative long-term health impacts. Many services are mixed and don’t cater for the specific issues that women face. Deaths caused by a complication of substance use disorder are increasing.

    Solution

As well as developing programmes dependent on local feedback we will organise a healing weekend for women with substance use disorder. Working with local providers we will curate an intensive residential healing weekend on the Isle of Bute. Connection building, raising aspiration and developing resilience in a women only environment will solidify healthy choices. Working with women at various stages of recovery will provide peer support that they can take forward on their healing journey.
