    Situation

Many believe we have lost a lot of the connections we had with nature just a few decades ago. This disconnect limits our ability to engage with the environmental crises facing our world today, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and plastic pollution. Without positive experiences in and with nature, it can be hard for us to appreciate its true value, to understand how our everyday lives impact it, or to rethink future alternatives.

    Solution

We believe muddy hands and nature encounters are fundamental to environmental conservation. That’s why A Rocha’s environmental education (EE) activities promote the enjoyment, care and sustainable use of the earth’s resources - whether that’s by teaching young Ugandans how to grow their own food or exploring rockpools with Kenyan students. A Rocha International gives training and provides opportunities to share best practice and lessons learned among EE practitioners across diverse contexts.
