Education is the foundation for Equality. Education gives us the knowledge, skills, resources and tools to live fulfilled lives. Education enables us to contribute meaningfully to our own communities. Support our campaign this Christmas to ensure all girls in Ndhiwa receive quality education.

Situation
Less than 20% of girls in Ndhiwa progress to secondary school as their education is not prioritised by their families, communities or schools. Inequalities exacerbated by COVID19 resulted in a 30% drop in girls returning to school in Homa Bay, with devastating rises in child marriages and teenage pregnancies. 42.8% of children get married aged 15-17. In 2020, during school closures, there were 1,181 pregnancies among 10-14 year old girls. Education saves lives in communities like Ndhiwa.
Solution
3,200 girls in 16 partner schools benefit from activities addressing the gender gap in education and improved attitudes from teachers, families and community members. Our 3-pronged approach aims to educate girls & empower female caregivers living in extreme poverty. We support girls to access quality education; economically empower women to improve their lives & support their daughters’ education; ensure girls are equal, respected & safe at home, in school & their community.
