A grade II listed building, Theatr Clwyd is in desperate need of redevelopment with a survey in 2010 finding that it is nearing the end of its life. The whole building needs to be rewired, backstage facilities renovated, front of house facilities updated to enhance the visitor experience and dedicated facilities created to support our work in the community. We need to improve accessibility across all areas of the site and improve the energy impact of the building.

A major redevelopment will ensure Theatr Clwyd remains open and can be enjoyed for generations to come. A £41 million redevelopment will transform the building to become fully accessible with world class theatre on its stages and community at its heart. With new youth hubs and arts and health suite, a sensory garden, village shop and indoor and outdoor play areas, Theatr Clwyd will become a destination to enjoy art, meet friends, have respite, learn a new skill and most importantly have fun.
