We want to provide up to 80 young people from minoritised backgrounds the opportunity to become young leaders of social and political change. In the Young Leaders Collective, they’ll develop campaigning skills, practice social action on real-life projects, and find their identities as leaders.

Situation
Despite its proven value, there is a lack of youth and diversity in social and political leadership roles. For example, 49% of MPs are over 50 (3% aged 18-29), and just 5% of the most powerful roles in the UK are held by people from ethnic minorities. Opportunities to take part in leadership programmes are often limited by social, geographical or economic factors. This programme has been designed to remove those barriers and empower or enable future young leaders from all backgrounds.
Solution
Led by an amazing youth team, we’ve created a FREE 12-month leadership programme that provides life-changing skills and experiences to the young people who need it most. Using our diverse membership base and UK-wide networks, we will target our offer of this programme to a range of disadvantaged young people. For example, those experiencing homelessness, those living in poverty or in care, refugees, LGBTQAI+ young people, young women, refugees, and those with physical or learning disabilities.
