Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by 27 years on average – the highest of any cancer. By funding pioneering research, we’re moving faster towards a future where we can give every family affected by a brain tumour the greatest gift of all – more time to make more memories together.

    Situation

Brain tumours remain one of the deadliest cancers any individual can face. Unlike other cancers, brain tumour survival rates have barely improved in 40 years and treatment options remain extremely limited. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy all come with life-changing side effects, and all three can have little impact on survival rates. For the 33 people diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK every day, the greatest gift we can give them is more time with their loved ones.

    Solution

We will continue to be the leading funder of brain tumour research in the UK and continue funding a diverse set of research initiatives like the Tessa Jowell BRAIN MATRIX as well as new and non-conventional treatments like the Sativex cannabinoid drug trial. Our BRIAN app is powering new research by collecting data and generating insights, whilst our brand new research strategy, Accelerating a Cure, outlines our upcoming priorities as we strive to create a world where brain tumours are defeated.
