    Situation

People with disabilities typically face barriers to engaging with nature. These can be physical barriers, such as non wheelchair accessible paths, or social barriers faced by people with learning disabilities. This excludes disabled people from the many health and wellbeing benefits of time in nature. Biodiversity is under threat from loss of habitat, climate change and intensive agriculture. Animals like bees, newts and dragonflies often struggle to find suitable homes for feeding and breeding.

    Solution

We will build new Wildlife Pond to: - enable people to disabilities to take part in hands-on learning opportunities that promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world. - improve people's wellbeing through spending time in nature - provide safe, accessible learning opportunities such as pond dipping, wildlife watching for people of all ages, and with additional needs - enhance biodiversity by providing a range of habitats for invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and birds.
