Central provides outstanding training for the performing arts; we are determined to offer this to as wide a range of young people as possible. Scholarships and Bursaries help break down the barriers which deter applicants from groups underrepresented in the industry.

    Situation

After several turbulent years, we need the creative industries to lift our spirits, tell our stories and help us understand the world around us. Central is a significant pipeline of talent for the performing arts industries, so it is vital that it attracts a diverse group of students who can tell a wide variety of stories that reflect us all. However, the cost of living combined with intensive training schedules can prevent some from living their dream of training at Central.

    Solution

We will overcome the potential financial barrier which deters some from applying to Central by promoting and offering Scholarships and Bursaries. Scholarships between £5,000 and £10,000 per year help with the costs of tuition fees and/or living expenses and are awarded on a combined basis of merit and financial need. Bursaries of at least £1,000 per year are awarded to help with living expenses and are awarded on a basis of financial need.
