Situation
The percentage of pupils with SEN support is increasing year on year yet there has been a significant reduction in funding for child services with the greatest losses seen in London (26 million between 2010/11 and 2019/20) and the greatest losses of funding across the most deprived local authorities with early intervention support taking the greatest hit (74% reduction in funding, nearly £1 billion). Without support the combination of the pandemic and funding cuts risks leaving a damaging legacy
Solution
Our work supports children to develop so many skills vital in school and later life. 74% of parents reported that our service provides a rare opportunity for children with additional needs to interact and socialise outside of school. Through attending our sessions over 90% of parents reported an increase in social interaction with their children. Over 80% parents reported an improvement in confidence, self-esteem and independence with a further 74% seeing an improvement in behaviour.
