    Situation

The cost of living crisis in the UK and around the world is particularly acute for prisoners of conscience. To make a stand against human rights abuses is dangerous and has life-changing consequences. Prisoners of conscience and human rights defenders can find themselves out of work, prevented from accessing vital services, imprisoned or forced into exile. They can face sexual and physical violence, torture and even death. The cost-of-living crisis compounds the challenges which they face.

    Solution

PoC and our supporters make a long-term difference - financial grants for hardship, family reunion and requalification, and a holistic package of practical support to help prisoners of conscience to rebuild their lives. By supporting this campaign, together we can help prisoners of conscience to survive the cost-of-living crisis, integrate into their new societies and become self-sufficient - people like Utondu and Nafosat whose dire home circumstances are shown in the photographs.
