GEN provides functional solutions to the current complex crisis – environmental destruction intertwined with the societal breakdown, injustice, economic vulnerability of local and indigenous communities, and cultural loss. Ecovillages holistically redesign the societal model –from ecological solutions and alternative economies to social structures and worldview– and offer a radical response to the crisis. GEN fosters and weaves these grass-root actions into a systemic movement for global change.

GEN facilitates scaling of ecovillage-based solutions for environmental and social restoration, locally and globally. We link existing initiatives for mutual support, sharing best practices; support new communities; provide education and capacity building; work with local, regional and national authorities; engage in post-disaster regions for community-led rebuilding; foster fundamental behaviour shifts for systemic change; and advocate for it at national and international levels.
