Rohingya children in Kutupalong, the world’s largest refugee camp, are cut off from the outside world and face a language barrier to learning. With funds we'll expand and share our award-winning digital curriculum in the Rohingya language, so thousands of children can fully understand their lessons.

    Situation

550,000 Rohingya children have been living in Bangladesh's vast refugee camps since 2017, and are unlikely to return to hostile Myanmar anytime soon. However, the only textbooks allowed in these camps are in Burmese and English, languages the Rohingya scarcely understand. Consequently an entire generation of children are at risk of growing up without learning to read or write; lacking the basic skills needed to lead a healthy, productive life and destined to be reliant on charities indefinitely.

    Solution

We will develop our digital Rohingya language curriculum (already at 500 lessons), allowing our students to comprehend their government-approved textbooks. We will also develop our Moja Kids platform, which brings weekly student-made digital newsletters to children in the camps and host communities. We will continue to set the standard for education delivery in Bangladesh and will encourage other agencies to adopt our unique model so many more Rohingya children can gain a meaningful education.
