    Situation

Refugees (on top enduring enormous hardship upon having to flee their home country, and in spite of possessing many skills), face numerous barriers to employment. These include: CV gaps caused by lengthy asylum processes, difficulty getting overseas qualifications recognised, racism, financial barriers to retraining, and misplaced employer perceptions around hiring refugees. The recent situations in Afghanistan and Ukraine have further increased the critical need for our services.

    Solution

We support refugees to find stable, meaningful employment through tailored 1:1 support, English and IT courses, and access to jobs with our corporate partners. We also run a dedicated grants programme through which we award direct funding to refugees, which enables them to access training and qualifications that are essential for the next step in their career. Examples to date have included paying for certification to become an Electrician, medical courses and language certification.
