Growing up in poverty puts a good childhood at risk & threatens a decent education. Extracurricular activities aren’t as common in poorer communities. Government funded youth services – the services that were accessed by those from poorer areas – have had their funding cut by 70% in the last 10 years. These children miss out on the many positive outcomes that are linked to regular exercise, including longer life expectancies, improved mental and physical health, and better grades in school

Sport is an incredible vehicle to teach life skills. We put full-time coaches and mentors in schools to run sessions before school hours, during the day, on evenings, weekends and over the holidays to provide key support for young people through sport – opportunities which are severely lacking for young people living in deprived communities. Through Greenhouse, children will be able to access high quality coaching, increasing their life skills, their school attendance and mental wellbeing.
