We want to fund emotional support for children and families across the hospital. These include children with extremely complex needs, long term conditions, palliative care, patients who have experienced trauma or a shock diagnosis and children and young people admitted in mental health crisis.

Situation
The Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales is an incredible place but there’s no denying that, day in and day out, many families go through experiences that are hard for most to imagine. Children undergo daunting procedures, parents live with worry and uncertainty, families miss each other desperately and people just like me or you can have their whole life changed in an instant. We want to raise money to fund a new emotional support service for children and families so they feel less alone, more supported and better able to cope.
Solution
The Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity wants to ensure that the emotional wellbeing of children and families are cared for just as well as their physical wellbeing. A new emotional support service funded by the Here for You Appeal could fund: A peer support worker with experience of childhood cancer to talk through the many practical questions families have after a diagnosis. Art therapy sessions to help a child process a traumatic experience. A counsellor to support a family as they come to terms with life changing news.
