Junction Arts’ vision is to create a better future for everyone through the arts. We believe in the positive impact the arts can have on people and places. We are fundraising to provide equal access to cultural opportunities and investing in the creative futures of young people across Derbyshire.

Situation
Our main areas of delivery; Bolsover, Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire fall within the 10% most deprived areas in England (2019 Indices of Multiple Deprivation). Low investment has led to lack of opportunity and a range of challenges including poor health and low aspirations. Communities in these areas experience high levels of inequality, including little access to life changing and transformational experiences that participation in arts and culture can bring.
Solution
We know the arts can have a significantly positive impact on people and places. Our work brings communities together, gives people a ‘voice’, develops confidence, skills and aspirations and gives people opportunities and purpose. Our programme of projects with local young people are responsive to a growing need for creative outlets and opportunity to participate in arts and culture. Community-based arts activities help children and young people explore identities and improve self-esteem.
