The COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis have disproportionately affected children who experience poverty, particularly in London. Many children are now dealing with the results of chronic anxiety, stress, inadequate diets, turbulent home life, loss of peer support and rapid mental health deterioration. Our research has found disadvantaged children are suffering mental health problems at twice the rate of children nationally.

The Childhood’s Trust Champions for Children campaign will fund the provision of 80 projects across London, providing a wide range of practical and emotional support this summer and beyond. This has never been more needed with the cost of living crisis having a devastating impact on so many children living in poverty.
