Some of our most vulnerable clients are within our Young MumsAid service. Being able to maintain our 24 hour text service will allow us to continue providing a vital life line to our young mums & dads over the festive period and beyond.

    Situation

We offer trauma informed support for young mums (under 21 yrs) in London, with many serious needs: two-thirds grew up in care, 82% have experienced domestic violence, and 90% have had previous mental health problems. Many of them are care leavers, are coping with insecure housing, poverty and poor educational achievement, and lack positive experiences of being parented themselves. This group rarely have stable support within their family and friends which is critical when facing these issues.

    Solution

Being able to put in place an 'out of hours' text service means that young mums and dads in our service will have someone to talk to any time of the day or night. This is so important for the management of anxiety and other mental health issues for those who are feeling particularly isolated. This is particularly important over festive periods and holidays when most services are closed when anxiety and feelings of isolation are at their highest.
