Situation
South Sudan is very low income country (ranked 2nd lowest for GDP per capita by the IMF), wounded by decades of conflict, where few girls finish even primary school and only 28.86% of women are literate. Girls' access to education is limited by having to travel long distances to get there, being burdened with domestic responsibilities, or even being forced into early marriage. The difficulties are compounded by high inflation in global food prices, adding yet another barrier to education.
Solution
Ibba Girls' School is a boarding school to ensure that girls coming from rural villages (across Western Equatoria, an area the size of Scotland) do not have walk everyday to and from school, and to protect them from gender discrimination. The campus provides a safe learning environment, where the girls are free to play, grow and study. We need your support to feed and support the girl students, so the school can grow to its largest ever size next year, empowering a new generation of women.
