The UK is facing a cost of living crisis and with winter upon us, fuel bills are on the rise but income isn't. More and more people are falling into debt with their energy bills and are having to decide whether to put food on the table or to heat their homes. No one should have to do this in the UK in 2022. The basic rights of food and warmth should be available to us all. We want to make sure no adult or child in South Kirklees faces the choice of eating or keeping warm this winter.

We will provide our food bank clients with access to an in-house fuel bank. The fuel bank will be accessible through our referral service and will provide access to a small grant solely for the purpose of fuel bills. This could be to provide a top-up to gas or electric metres or by paying one-off arrears for a fuel bill. Enabling people to get back to on top of their finances and supporting better budgeting This will all be managed by our Advice and Guidance Team.
