    Situation

Lions are already extinct in 26 countries across Africa and over the last 20 years, populations have declined by a staggering 42%. Of the 20,000 lions left in Africa, only a few hundred remain in Uganda. Lions and other wildlife are not only being targeted by poachers for trophy hunting and illegal wildlife trade but are also being killed indiscriminately in snares and traps set up by bushmeat poachers. Another major threat is poisoning due to human-wildlife conflict.

    Solution

Rangers are vital in winning the war against wildlife crime and ensuring a peaceful co-existence between local communities and animals. David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) has been supporting these brave men and women in Africa for almost 40 years. Your donation will go towards essential anti-poaching patrols, snare removals and human-wildlife conflict mitigation. It will also fund community development and sustainable livelihood programmes, so that we can better support rangers to protect lions, and other wildlife, from extinction.
