Children in Rwanda are leaving school without basic education, if they attend at all. Children have experienced huge learning losses due to COVID-19 and those in poverty are most at risk. Help APIE transform children's life chances and support an inclusive and quality education for 300+ children.

Situation
Despite high rates of enrollment in primary education in Rwanda, there is disparity in children's learning experiences and whether or not they make it through basic education. This disproportionately affects poor and vulnerable children who are more likely to face exclusion, overcrowded classrooms, unqualified teachers and scarce resources. This impacts children’s future life chances, perpetuates cycles of poverty and slows Rwanda’s sustainable development.
Solution
Quality education reduces poverty, improves health, promotes gender equality and peacebuilding. APIE is supporting 300+ children in Rwanda to receive a quality education at a local school, Umubano Academy. We provide access to an inclusive, high achieving and holistic educational experience, specialising in wellbeing, citizenship and peace education. Funds help 30+ children living in poverty attend, support students with special educational needs, provide resources and ongoing teacher training.
