Far too many children across the country don’t get any musical opportunities. Singing in the classroom is a guaranteed way to give these children the chance to make music. Singing together is ideal for children’s wellbeing, self-confidence and brings joy. Give the gift of music this Christmas.

    Situation

Music is often deprioritised in state schools in favour of STEM subjects. Almost 10% of schools don’t teach class music. Most schools don’t have specialist music teachers and classroom teachers don’t have the skills. Budget cuts also prevent schools from offering musical enrichment. With the cost-of-living crisis, music lessons are a luxury few households can afford. At school and at home, children living with disadvantage are the ones who miss out most.

    Solution

Voices uses an iterative (repeated, cyclical) approach in its delivery and works in partnership with schools to tailor their programme. A specialist Artist Practitioner (AP) works alongside the non-specialist, classroom teachers to develop their music-teaching skills and confidence. Voices makes music education simple and accessible through a tried-and-tested method that empowers non-specialist teachers to deliver high-quality music education in the classroom.
