People with M.E. still face ignorance, injustice and neglect. With M.E. on the rise due to Long Covid, now, more than ever, we must continue to improve the lives of people with M.E., whilst inspiring action from the UK Government and investing in effective biomedical research.

    Situation

M.E. has been underfunded, under-researched and misunderstood for too long. It is believed that there will be at least a doubling of M.E. diagnoses due to Long Covid but we still have no effective treatments and no cure. M.E. is the leading cause of long-term school absence and less than 10% of people with M.E. are able to work full time. The lack of investment into M.E. means there is a critical lack of services available and people with M.E. face multiple barriers to accessing support.

    Solution

We are the only charity directly supporting people with M.E. of all ages and they are at the heart of everything we do. After succeeding in securing a National Strategy for M.E. with the U.K. Government we’ll continue to push for investment, ensuring collaboration in global and national research as well as in a Future Leaders network of new researchers. We’ll continue to support people with M.E. by sharing information and advocacy, reducing isolation and providing care via our healthcare service
